Suryakumar Yadav-led India National Cricket Team opened their campaign in the Asia Cup 2025 with the match against the United Arab Emirates National Cricket Team on Wednesday, September 10.
The India National Cricket Team comprehensively won the match against the UAE National Cricket Team by 9 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium.
Opting to bowl first in the match, India bowled out the UAE for 57 runs as Kuldeep Yadav bagged 4 wickets and Shivam Dube got three wickets. Also, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel chipped in with a wicket each.
Chasing the target, Abhishek Sharma blasted an explosive 30 runs before Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav finished off the run-chase in 4.3 overs.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Suryakumar Yadav said that the surface didn't change in the second innings. He stated:
"(decision to bowl first) Wanted to see how the wicket was playing. It was the same in the 2nd innings."

Suryakumar Yadav further lauded his team for clinical performance and gave a special shoutout to the Player of the Match, Kuldeep Yadav. He said:
"Clinical performance from the boys, we wanted good attitude and energy on the field and that's what we got. Recently lot of the boys were here for the Champions Trophy, the wicket looked good but it was on the slower side and the spinners have a role."
"Here it is very hot right now and Kuldeep did well, got good support from Hardik, Dube and Bumrah."
Suryakumar Yadav further praised Abhishek Sharma, who is currently the No. 1-ranked batsman in the ICC T20I Batting Rankings.
The India skipper also issued a warning to Pakistan, saying that they are excited to face off against the arch-rivals at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 14. He stated:
"(on Abhishek) He is currently the World number one batter for a reason, he sets the tone, irrespective of if we chase 200 or 50, unbelievable from him. Everyone is excited for the game against Pakistan."
India last faced the UAE in a T20I in 2016
India crushed the UAE by nine wickets in their first-ever T20I meeting in Mirpur during the Asia Cup 2016.
Asked to bowl first by Amjad Javed, India’s attack dominated from the start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged two wickets while Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Pawan Negi, and Yuvraj Singh bagged one wicket each as UAE collapsed to 81/9 in their 20 overs.
Chasing a target of just 82, India reached home with 59 balls to spare. Rohit Sharma smashed 39 off 28 balls with seven boundaries and one maximum. From there, Shikhar Dhawan (16*) and Yuvraj Singh (25*) easily wrapped up the chase.
