Out-of-favour India batsman Prithvi Shaw has been fined by the court in relation to a molestation case. The right-handed batsman had landed in legal trouble in 2023 after social media influencer Gill lodged a molestation case against him.
Prithvi Shad had denied the allegations against him at that time. Gill had alleged that the batsman molested her at a pub in suburban Andheri.
The social media influencer was also arrested in February 2023 with some others, in connection with an attack on Prithvi Shaw following an argument over clicking selfies at a suburban hotel. A video of the altercation had gone viral on social media at that time.
Gill was later granted bail before she approached the Airport police station in Andheri with a complaint against the batsman, his friend Ashish Yadav, and others for alleged molestation and outraging modesty. Gill then moved to the magistrates' court after the police didn't register a case against the cricketer.
According to media reports, she had sought registration of an FIR under IPC sections 354 (molestation), 509 (Word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) against Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav.

Prithvi Shaw fined by the court
In relation to the same molestation case, a Mumbai sessions court has imposed an IN 100 token cost fine on the cricketer. Shaw has been fined for failing to submit his reply in the molestation case.
The court has also granted Prithvi Shaw one more opportunity to respond to Gill's criminal revision petition, which challenges a magistrate court's earlier decision to not register an FIR against the cricketer.
Judge S M Agarkar observed, "Last chance was granted on the previous date. Still one more chance is granted for the cost of Rs. 100 to the other side".
On the other hand, Gill's lawyer said, "Despite being summoned on multiple occasions, his lawyers keep seeking adjournments with one excuse or another."
Shaw's struggles continue on and off the field
Meanwhile, Shaw's international career is completely off the track at present. He has not represented India in any format since 2021. Things have not gone well for him in domestic cricket as well as the IPL.
Last year, he could not get a deal from any IPL outfit and was also dropped from the Mumbai team for his poor performance and fitness.
