CASEMIRO has jetted back to Manchester after being suspended from Brazil’s final 2026 World Cup qualifying clash.
The legendary midfielder is back training at Carrington ahead of the Manchester derby at the Etihad on Sunday.
The United star’s booking in a 3-0 win over Chile on Friday ruled him out of Brazil’s next clash against Bolivia.
After having an early header ruled out for offside, he avoided a possible red card for landing his foot on Vicente Pizarro’s calf late in the first half.
His frustration was evident as he had an icy exchange on the pitch with 18-year-old Chelsea star Estevao.
The youngster appeared to come over with words of support following the decisions, but was warned off by Casemiro, who was clearly having none of it.
But rather than spend any more family time in South America, Casemiro was given permission to leave camp and return to England in preparation to face City.
The 33-year-old has become a shock contender for a starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s side after two years out of his national set up before his former Real Madrid boss arrived.
Brazil have already qualified for the World Cup next summer.
Newcastle‘s Bruno Guimaraes and Chelsea‘s Andrey Santos can play at the base of midfield in the United man’s absence.

Casemiro looks physically fitter this season after suffering from overweight allegations and working his way back into United’s first XI at the end of last term.
After starting the first three Prem games this season, he is expected to be named alongside skipper Bruno Fernandes against Pep Guardiola’s side this weekend.
Ruben Amorim will hope his uptick in form continues as the Red Devils look to recover from what has been a decidedly underwhelming start to the new season.
A last-gasp penalty from Fernandes was enough to secure United their first win of the campaign against Burnley last weekend, but it was not the dominant display that fans expected from a home match against a newly-promoted side.
