Ole Miss is reportedly finalizing a home-and-home series with Pittsburgh.
That news was first reported by 247Sports’ Chase Parham on Monday. Parham’s report says the deal is close to being made official and would result in Ole Miss hosting Pittsburgh in 2026. While a return trip date is uncertain, the report says the most likely season would be 2030.
Per the report, Ole Miss vs. Pitt in 2026 would be played on Sept. 5 of that season. That means it would serve as the season-opener for Lane Kiffin and Co.
This news comes on the heels of some new scheduling rules from the SEC that were announced last month. The SEC will move to a 9-game conference schedule in 2026 and will also require its league members to play at least one additional game against a power-conference opponent.
Previously, Ole Miss only had Wofford and Charlotte on the books for 2026. With the addition of Pittsburgh, Ole Miss’s 2026 slate is now full.
If the Rebels end up making the return trip in 2030, they could have a road-heavy slate of games that season. Ole Miss is currently scheduled to go on the road to face Oregon State in 2030.
With the SEC’s new rules coming into effect next year, Ole Miss will likely be scheduling more home-and-home series in the near future. Other than Pittsburgh, Ole Miss doesn’t currently have a power-conference opponent on its books until 2032 (Virginia Tech).
Ole Miss and Pittsburgh have one previous meeting. The Rebels won 38-17 at the BVAA Compass Bowl at the end of the 2012 season.
