SWAT response shuts down streets in Chicagos Logan Square neighborhood

A large police response that included a SWAT team and armored vehicles shut down streets in part of Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood on Labor Day.

Around 12:45 p.m. on Monday, a heavy police response could be seen near the intersection of North Kimball Avenue and West Wrightwood Avenue. Police tape stretched across the streets to block traffic as authorities worked.

    SWAT teams and armored vehicles also responded to the area, and several people gathered to watch the scene unfold from the other side of the police tape.

    A neighbor told NBC Chicago that he came outside after seeing the large police response, something he said he considered unusual for the area.

    Police did not provide information as to what they were responding to. When asked a second time around 3:15 p.m., CPD said “the incident is still ongoing. There are no further updates at this time.”

    The scene remained active as of 3:30 p.m.
