Henry Baumhover has announced his commitment to continue both his education and swimming career at the University of California, San Diego, where he will join the team in the fall of 2026. He is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he attends Ann Arbor Pioneer High School and trains year-round with Club Wolverine.
The Futures and Winter Juniors qualifier confirmed his commitment in an email to SwimSwam, stating:
I’m extremely honored and excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of California, San Diego! I’d like to thank my family for being my biggest supporters, as well as all my coaches and teammates who have helped me along the way. The freestyle and butterfly specialist’s target meet of this past high school season was the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division 1 State Championships, held in mid-March.
He was pivotal on relays, anchoring both the 200 medley and 200 free to gold medals with splits of 20.39 and 20.43, respectively. Individually, he secured a pair of runner-up finishes, clocking 20.85 for a season best in the 50 free and a 45.20 lifetime best in the 100 free.
Baumhover concluded his short course season at the ULTRA Championships, where he represented his club team just over a week after the State meet ended. He captured both the 100 (45.31) and 200 (1:39.37) free titles, with his 100 time missing his best by just a tenth, while the 200 marked his first sub-1:40 performance. He also helped Club Wolverine sweep all four relays, splitting 21.14 leading off the 200 free relay, 44.91 anchoring the 400 free relay, and contributing 21.93 and 48.74 fly legs on the medleys.

50 Freestyle: 20.75 100 Freestyle: 45.20 200 Freestyle: 1:39.37 100 Butterfly: 49.41UCSD finished fourth out of five teams in the men’s meet at the 2025 Big West Conference Championships. At that meet, where ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals are offered, it took times of 20.37, 44.75, and 1:39.93 in the freestyles to make the top 16. The 100 fly required a 48.55.
Given these times, Baumhover enters as an immediate scorer, as his 200 free personal best would have ranked him 14th after prelims. With another full year of high school remaining, he has ample time to further improve his marks before arriving on campus.
Looking at the team’s depth chart for the 2024–25 season, Baumhover’s bests would have situated him fifth in the 100 fly, sixth in the 100 free, and seventh in both the 50 and 200 free. Freshman Hunter Cehelnik led the way in the sprint freestyles with times of 20.06, 42.91, and 46.18, with Aidan Rikic holding the team’s fastest 200 free at 1:37.30.
DeAnda joins Darmen Yessengeldy, Andrew Vet, Daniel King, and Dashiell DeAnda in the Tritons’ class of 2030.
