College football fans react to first GameDay broadcast without Lee Corso

Lee Corso officially retired last weekend, doing his final College GameDay broadcast ahead of Ohio State’s win over Texas.

In true Hollywood fashion, Corso went out by picking all winners and by having every school he played for or coach win. What a finish to a legendary career.

This weekend was the first College GameDay broadcast since Corso’s retirement, and it had fans on social media missing him. There was plenty of reaction to the broadcast from Norman ahead of a Week 2 showdown between the Oklahoma Sooners and Michigan Wolverines.

When the picks section rolled around at the end of the show and Corso wasn’t there to don whichever team’s headgear he liked? Well, it was just… weird.

Here’s a sampling of some of the social media reaction to the first GameDay broadcast since Corso’s retirement:

College Football not the same without Lee Corso

High energy, but seeing McAfee close out #CollegeGameday instead of Corso’s headgear wave was odd. Damn, it’s going to take some getting used to. Nothing against Pat McAfee, you just can’t replace a legend like Lee Corso and expect it to be fine the next week.

Man watching @CollegeGameDay without Coach Lee Corso still hasn't kicked it, I hope coach is having fun, relaxing in front of his big screen watching the game he loves

Corso was the biggest part of GameDay becoming the behemoth that it is. Without him, it’ll take some getting used to. But the current crew of Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit have a couple of years of chemistry together.

Replacing Corso won’t be easy, though. The man was an absolute legend.
