This Martha Stewart-Approved Destination Was Just Named the No. 1 Leaf-Peeping Hotspot of 2025

Fall leaf-peeping trips have become more and more popular in recent years, with millions traveling to New England to view the autumn colors each year alone. In fact, the Old Farmer's Almanac keeps a continually updated Fall Foliage Map and Peak Leaf Color Guide, so you can be sure not to miss the changing leaves in your area. Fall roadtrips through the vibrant green, red and gold hues come with many other treats too—pumpkin picking, hot apple cider, hay rides, fairs and more.

While the northeast's Vermont and New Hampshire are classic destinations for fall foliage, there's no shortage of ways to take part in leaf-peeping all around the country. To help people plan their weekend escapes, Priceline recently shared exclusive data with Travel + Leisure on the top 10 scenic destinations for fall 2025, based on hotel search data from U.S. travelers for dates between Oct. 10-24 this year—the time when leaf season is at its peak.

This year's winning destination—Hudson Valley, New York—topped vacationers' search in the fall, beating out other popular leaf-peeping hotspots including Bucks Country, Pennsylvania (last year's winner), The Berkshires in Massachusetts and Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, among others.

The Hudson Valley is a popular weekend getaway just a few hours' drive or train trip from New York City. In fact, Martha Stewart lives in the Hudson Valley region on her Bedford Farm, a 153-acre estate in Katonah, NY. The lifestyle guru is often seen posting glimpses of the changing seasons via her Instagram and blog.

Hudson Valley is a popular pick for good reason—prime leaf peeping kicks off September 10 and lasts through November—and after you've had a taste of autumnal splendor in all its glory, there are many fabulous boutique hotels, farm-to-table restaurants and natural beauty to explore.

Harriman State ParkHudson Highland State Park PreserveNew York State Route 52, known for its lookout points and scenic drivesHudson River Skywalk or Walkway Over the Hudson, both offering breathtaking views from above and more immersive experiences

In Parade's Leaf-Peeping Guide, we suggest the Hudson River School Art Trail for a dose of history with scenic waterfall views, Plattekill Falls for serious hikes and Diamond Notch Falls(also known as West Kill Falls) for shorter walks.

There are many fabulous boutique hotels, inns and updated motels in New York's Hudson Valley and more are coming soon. We suggest Catskills' hideaway Arnold House. It's located on Shandelee Mountain, near charming Livingston Manor and features an onsite tavern, private hiking trails, a renovated barn for morning yoga classes and access to the area’s many outdoor activities like fly fishing.

For restaurants, we like The Junction in Roscoe for knockout katsu chicken rice bowls and late-night chili dogs, as well as the Dining Room at The Debruce. The James Beard-nominated restaurant boasts a 6-course tasting menu exploring the different seasons through food in a glass-walled dining room overlooking the valley—a perfect spot to take in the changing colors.
