Veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra, one of the most celebrated names in IPL history, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, ending a 25-year career that spanned international, domestic, and franchise cricket.
End of an era!
The 42-year-old played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India, claiming 156 international wickets. Known for his guile and variations, Mishra’s finest international moment came in 2013 when he equalled Javagal Srinath’s record by picking 18 wickets in a five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. He also starred in the 2014 T20 World Cup, helping India reach the final.
Mishra, however, will be best remembered for his impact in the IPL. Across 162 matches, he bagged 174 wickets at an economy rate of 7.37, making him the seventh-highest wicket-taker in tournament history. He is the only bowler to record three IPL hat-tricks, achieved with Delhi Daredevils in 2008, Punjab in 2011, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013, a feat that still stands unmatched.

I am deeply grateful to the BCCI, the administration, Haryana cricket association, the support staff, my colleagues, and to my family members who were with me all this while,” Mishra said, as quoted by IANS.
“I would like to thank the fans whose love and support whenever and wherever I played made the journey memorable. Cricket has given me countless memories and invaluable learnings, and each moment on the ground has been a memory I’ll treasure for life.”
