A beloved Hollywood icon of the ‘80s and ‘90s just hit a major milestone. Charlie Sheen turned 60 on Wednesday, September 3, and fans are celebrating the occasion with nostalgic tributes to his decades of work on both the big and small screen.
“Happy 60th Birthday to the unforgettable Charlie Sheen,” read one message shared on Instagram. “Six decades of intensity, charisma, and raw talent — your journey has been anything but ordinary.”
Another read, “Happy 60th #Birthday, Charlie Sheen!!” alongside a photo of the actor in the movie Major League, while several other birthday wishes poured in across social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook and X.
The Two and a Half Men alum’s big day came just days before his new book, The Book of Sheen, is released on September 9, and his Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, hits the streamer the following day.

“It’s not about me setting the record straight or righting all the wrongs of my past,” Sheen told People in an interview published on Tuesday, September 2, regarding releasing both projects at the same time. “Most of my 50s were spent apologizing to the people I hurt. I also didn’t want to write from the place of being a victim. I wasn’t, and I own everything I did. It’s just me, finally telling the stories in the way they actually happened. The stories I can remember, anyway.”
Sheen exploded onto the scene with memorable roles in several ‘80s films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Platoon and more. His star power continued to burn bright well into the ‘90s, but in the early 2000s, the Hot Shots actor spiraled into addiction in his 40s. Sheen was continually making headlines for his wild behavior – especially his infamous 20/20 interview when he proclaimed to have “tiger blood” in his veins.
However, the Golden Globe winner decided to turn things around and get sober.
“I keep a [mental list] of the worst, most shameful things I’ve done, and I can look at that in my head if I feel like having a drink,” Sheen told the publication.
