Sharing a photo of her mother's hand clutching a guardian angel pendant in hers, Buell captioned the heartbreaking photo with:
"Goodbye to my beautiful Mommy who went to heaven today 4:37 EST… 11/25/1929-8/30/2025… ✨??❤️?"
Fans of the model shared their most heartfelt condolences, empathizing with her epic loss.
"Oh Bebe, I’m so sorry. I’m sending you and family so much love. Your mother was a goddess, now gets to shine her light from above. I’ve always admired her—and what a legacy she has in you and your descendants. Much love to you during this difficult time. Will call to check in soon," said one commenter in a heartfelt message.
"Oh, dear Bebe, so so sorry. What a woman, what a life, what a legacy," added former supermodel Paulina Porizkova.

Who Was Bebe Buell's Mother and Liv Tyler's Grandmother Dorothea Johnson?
Johnson's legacy, aside from being Buell's mother and actress Liv Tyler's grandmother, lives on as one of the world's most respected etiquette experts. She spent her life counseling others in business, entertainment, government, and education and was quoted in over 60 books and countless publications on the subject.
She also authored and co-authored several books, including her recent work Modern Manners: Tools to Take You to the Top with Tyler. She also founded The Protocol School of Washington, which is reportedly the first educational entity in the nation that addressed the need for professionally trained etiquette and protocol instructors.
What Is Bebe Buell Doing Now?
It has undoubtedly been a rough year for Buell. In 2024, she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer after a routine mammogram. She underwent a lumpectomy and breast reduction as part of her treatment plan, and after a few "grueling" months of recovery, was showing no signs of cancer growth.
She recently released a song entitled "Skin Suit," which she told Nashville Scene partly reflects her journey through the disease.
“For me, ‘Skin Suit’ has an entire complex umbrella,” Buell told the outlet. “I want everybody to get something different out of it. … If it's a love song to some people, that's great. If it’s a song about healing, that's great. If it's a song about political intelligence and education, that's great too. I'm open for all cause and effect.”

While Tyler has yet to publicly comment on her grandmother's passing, Buell shared several "stories" to her reels honoring her late mother.
