Meghan Markle’s TV Series Wins Over Tennis Star Carlos Alcaraz: ‘Really Good One’

Meghan Markle’s TV show Suits made a huge impact on tennis star Carlos Alcaraz.

Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex and releasing a Netflix show, the 44-year-old began her career by taking small roles on screen as well as appearing on Deal or No Deal as one of the briefcase girls.

Markle’s breakthrough project was landing the main role in the 2011 legal drama, where she played paralegal Rachel Zane. She starred alongside Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Abigail Spencer and others.

Despite the show ending in 2019 after nine successful seasons, younger millennials and Gen Z have been watching the series, introducing it to a whole new generation of fans. This includes the 22-year-old player who is a fan of the show.

After his third-round victory at the 2025 US Open, the former world No. 1 said his English communication skills have been improving.

“Well, a few years ago, I would come here to the press conference, sweating… like okay, let’s see if I’m going to understand, you know, the question,” “Let’s see what I’m going to answer,” he said during the press conference, adding, “So, right now, I’m just feeling more comfortable. I know you guys, it’s feeling like at home, let’s say.”

Moreover, he mentioned that besides speaking with his fellow players, he also improved just by “watching series and movies.”

“So just, yeah, my English has improved a lot, and I’m just trying to talk with the players… talking around… watching series and movies in English has helped me a lot to improve my English.”

Alcaraz, who described himself as “more of a movie guy,” revealed that he hasn't “seen too many series,” but the show that captivated him was the legal drama.

“I just watched Suits,” he said, adding, “Really good one. Long, but really good one.”

As for films, he mentioned a classic directed by award-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

“So, for example, the last one I watched is Pulp Fiction, a good one,” the tennis star said. “I know it's old. I know it's old. But there are a lot of really good movies that I haven't watched.”

Besides the 1994 film, he also named Matt Damon and Robin Williams’s movie Good Will Hunting as one of his favorites. “I love it,” he added.

Alcaraz is set to return to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the quarterfinals against Czech player Jiri Lehecka.
