Five people were injured, including one teen critically hurt in a Labor Day shooting near Ellis Park in Chicago’s Bronzeville, Chicago police said.
About 1 a.m., officers responded to a call of a “large disturbance” in the 3600 block of S. Cottage Grove St. When officers arrived, they heard gunshots fired a short distance away, and went towards the scene.
Upon relocating, police found multiple victims had sustained gunshot wounds. All were transported to nearby hospitals.
One of the victims, a 17-year-old boy, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was last listed in critical condition, police said. Another victim, a 33-year-old man, who was shot in the arm and the leg, was last listed in fair condition, police said.
Three other victims — a 36-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man and a 33-year-old man — were shot in the arms and legs and last listed in good condition, police added.
Four firearms were recovered on scene, and a person of interest was being questioned by police as an investigation continued. No further details were provided.
The shooting comes after another nearby shooting Saturday night that left seven people injured.
