Army foils SDF infiltration attempt east of Aleppo
ALEPPO, SANA — A Syrian army unit confronted a group of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters who attempted to infiltrate army positions in the Tal Mae’z area east of Aleppo, an official source told SANA on Sunday.
The source said the infiltrators were engaged in an ambush, while other SDF units positioned in Umm Tina village and in the city of Deir Hafer opened fire on army points in an effort to pull their trapped members.
“The initial clash began with light weapons,” the source added. “But as SDF intensified shelling, army units responded with heavy weapons, and reinforcements were deployed to Tal Mae’z” to secure the area.
The incident came a day after SDF forces imposed a strict curfew in al-Hasakah city, eastern Syria and raided several neighborhoods.
