BRISTOL, N.Y. — A birthday party was held for Minnie Howard on Saturday to celebrate her 105th birthday.
The party was held at Levi Corser Park in Bristol. Family members said Minnie — whose actual birthday is Aug. 24 — remains her upbeat self even at 105.
“My favorite memory that she’s shared with me has to be when she got a bullet, her and her sister got shot on accident by a little kid they were playing with, and she had to like, she told us this crazy story about how they just propped her up on the table, and right in the kitchen they had to remove a bullet from her leg,” said her great-granddaughter.
News10NBC’s Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke previously sat down with Minnie and her sister, Dolly DeStefano, who is turning 103 this December.

The sisters recalled the moment they were shot in the leg at the ages of five and seven when they spoke with Lewke, saying they “remember the day vividly.”
