The National Weather Service office is forecasting warm, dry and sunny weather in San Diego for the Labor Day weekend, with temperatures highest on Monday.
“Seasonal weather will continue through the weekend with mostly sunny skies expected,” the weather service said in its Friday afternoon update.
“As conditions continue to dry through the weekend, temperatures will continue to warm into next week,” the agency said.
High temperatures were forecast to be in the mid 70s to low 80s along the coast, mid 80s inland, high 80s to low 90s in the valleys, high 80s to mid 90s in the mountains, and mid to high 100s in the deserts.
At the beaches, a long-period southerly swell will bring elevated surf Sunday through Monday. Waves of 3-6 feet with occasional sets to 7 feet will create a high rip-current risk.
The weather service said monsoonal thunderstorms will return next week, mainly in the mountains and deserts.
