The human remains found near the Flatirons Vista Trailhead this week were identified as Paul Aragon, according to a Boulder County Coroner’s Office release.
The 34-year-old was found Tuesday morning after a member of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks Vegetation Crew called 911 to report that the remains had been found near the trailhead, which is along Colorado 93 south of Colorado 128, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Aragon, of Aurora, was reported missing by his family on May 8, according to a Broomfield police news release. A police officer found his truck on May 2 in Broomfield — running and with his dog inside — in a construction area off Edgeview Drive near the WoodSpring Suites.
Officers then searched the area by foot and drone and found nothing suspicious, and Aragon did not answer a phone when officers tried to reach him, the police department’s release said.
Another officer stopped to check on the vehicle and dog on May 3, and the dog was removed and taken to a local shelter because of concern for its welfare, the release said. The area was searched again, and Aragon’s mother was notified that his dog had been found. Five days later, Aragon’s mother contacted police, wanting to report him missing and said she had not heard from him since April 28 or 29 and he “no-showed” for work on May 5, the release said.
