Orlando Bloom recently lost more than 50 pounds to prepare for his role in The Cut. Although he was already in pretty decent shape, Bloom worked with nutritionist Phillip Goglia to slim down and he's sharing a bit about the process.
“I wouldn’t recommend to anyone at home, it’s not something to take lightly," he said on the Aug. 27 episode of This Morning, according to Us Weekly. "I had a great nutritionist. I was recommended by one of my agents who worked with Christian Bale on some stuff, so he was checking my blood and stuff."
"He basically tiered me down from three meals a day to two, to one," Bloom said of Goglia. "Suddenly, all these foods were being taken away from me, and my protein powder was the last one. I was like ‘No! Don’t take that one.’ Then basically I came down to [eating] just tuna and cucumber for the last three weeks," he continued.
"Mentally, physically, I was hangry. I was a horrible person to be around. The paranoia, the intrusive thoughts. We’re supposed to eat and sleep and take care of ourselves. It’s really a commentary on the lengths a person will go to have that second shot. I think that’s so relatable," he added.
Bloom, 48, attended the London screening of The Cut at Curzon Soho on Aug. 27, showing off his trimmer figure — though he isn't as cut as he was during filming.
In The Cut, Bloom portrays the role of a former boxer who trains to get back in the ring for redemption. In the film's official trailer, which was released earlier this month, Bloom's full body transformation (and every defined ab muscle) can be seen.
In an interview with People a few weeks ago, Bloom also talked about the paranoia he suffered as a result of the drastic weight loss. He told the outlet that he dropped about 30 pounds in just about three months.

According to the CDC, one to two pounds per week is recommended for "healthy" weight loss. Bloom lost closer to three pounds per week on his regime.
"What I hadn’t expected and was surprised by was the mental toll that this kind of intense discipline takes. The paranoia and anxiety were very real and disturbing, caused by the lack of sleep — turns out you can’t sleep when you’re hungry," he told People.
While going through the transformation, Bloom was still with fiancee Katy Perry. The two announced their split in July 2025. His appearance at the London screening is one of the first public appearances he's made since breaking things off with the former American Idol judge.
The Cut is set to hit theaters on Sept. 5.
