Andy Reid appeared taken aback as he met Patrick Mahomes’ doppelganger face-to-face.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in town for their 2025 season-opener against the Cincinnati Bearcats, which will take place at Arrowhead Stadium.
Ahead of the big game, Nebraska’s young stars took a walk through the NFL stadium, and were greeted by none other than Kansas City Chiefs head coach Reid.
‘Big Red’ shook hands with the players outside the locker room, and appeared taken aback by Dylan Raiola, the sophomore quarterback who bears a striking resemblance to Mahomes.
“Hey Dylan, how are you?” Reid said to the 20-year-old, as the pair shared a warm handshake.
“You’re doing a great job, have a great season.”
The footage of Reid and Raiola meeting at Arrowhead quickly went viral, racking up more than half a million views on X in less than 12 hours.
Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the exchange, with some suggesting the college star will be Kansas City’s next QB.
“Andy Reid the typa guy to draft him for the memes i feel like,” one suggested.
“It would’ve been funny if Patrick Mahomes came out dressed in Nebraska gear,” another said.
“Nah, Andy Reid just scouting his next backup after Mahomes retires in 2040,” a third joked.
Raiola ‘not mad’ about Mahomes comparisons
With the college football season under way, Raiola is back in the national spotlight and his team has ‘high expectations’ for the coming months.
Raiola has caused a stir online in recent months for his resemblance to MahomesGetty The Chiefs QB has no issue with being copied by the college starGettyThe Cornhuskers are favorites against the Bearcats, Travis Kelce’s alma mater, in Thursday night’s ‘Battle Sports Kansas City Classic’ at Arrowhead, and will look to begin their campaign with a win.
Mahomes, of course, calls Arrowhead home — so the fact that doppelganger Raiola will play on the same field has drawn plenty of attention.
The young QB, though, isn’t upset about that.
“Everybody be like, ‘Oh, he wants to be like him,’ and all this stuff,” Raiola told CBS Sports.
“It just so happens he played baseball, I played baseball. He plays quarterback, I play quarterback.
“I can’t get mad at God for making me look like him.”

Kansas City’s star man doesn’t seem to mind the comparisons either.
Mahomes shares verdict on ‘doppelganger’ Raiola
“It’s cool honestly,” he said.
“I was that guy, grew up watching players. I loved A-Rod, played SS, would try to make plays just like him. It helped me become the athlete I am. It’s just telling me I’m getting older.”

Clearly, there is no issue between the NFL icon and an up-and-coming QB who dreams of one-day emulating him on the field, as well as off it.
And if Mahomes is in the house to watch the Cornhuskers clash with the Bearcats, you can bet the broadcast will find him in the crowd and put the two players side-by-side on-screen.
