Tom Welling is opening up about his time playing Clark Kent, aka Superman, on all 10 seasons of the hit series, Smallville, which ended in 2011.
During a July 2025 interview on his Smallville castmate, Michael Rosenbaum's podcast, Inside of You, Welling said he wasn't overly happy with the show's long-shoot days. He said revisiting the show on his and Rosenbaum's other podcast, Talkville, has helped him remember his time filming the series in a more positive light.
"I tend to remember more good things than bad things, whereas I think when I was going through it, I wasn't very happy most of the time," said Welling during the interview.
He said that having "good moments" on set and "feeling like [he] had a responsibility to every single person" who worked on the show kept him going on the series.
In addition, the Cheaper by the Dozen star said he wasn't initially proud of his work on Smallville.
"I'm proud of it now. Where I don't think I was proud of it when we were doing it. And I'm not sure why because it's hard," said the 48-year-old in the podcast interview.
