ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two people have been displaced by a fire Tuesday evening at a duplex on Sawyer Street.
Rochester firefighters arrived at 6:16 p.m. and had the fire under control by 6:38 p.m., the Rochester Fire Department stated — while having to proceed with caution due to holes on the second floor. they used three hose lines to start suppressing the fire, and ventilated the home — a large, 2.5-story, wood-frame duplex at 555 Sawyer St. — to remove heat and smoke.
Firefighters searched both apartments and found that all occupants were safely out, with no injuries to residents or firefighters. Rochester Gas & Electric was called in to secure utilities.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, RFD said.
