Nearly 2,000 cases of 7Up recalled over No Sugar mix-up

Nearly 2,000 cases of 7Up have been recalled after some cans labeled as “zero sugar” were found to contain full-sugar soda.

Buffalo Rock Company, a beverage bottling company based in Alabama, initiated a recall of certain cases of 7Up Tropical on July 31, according to an enforcement report published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The packages may have contained cans of soda labeled as 7Up Tropical Zero sugar, despite containing the full-sugar version of 7Up Tropical.

The recalled cases can be identified by the lot numbers XXXXBR062156 and XXXXBR062256, and by the use-by date of March 23, 2026, which is printed on the packaging.

“The safety and quality of our products is our top priority,” a spokesperson for Keurig Dr Pepper Inc, which owns the 7Up brand, told Nexstar in an emailed statement. “In line with that commitment, we’re working with one of our bottlers, Buffalo Rock Company, on a voluntary recall of 1,954 cases of 7Up Tropical Regular Sugar.”

The spokesperson said only the 7Up Tropical variety produced by this single bottler is affected by the recall.

The affected products had been shipped to retailers in Alabama and Florida, according to Keurig Dr Pepper. The FDA's enforcement report also included Georgia in the "distribution pattern," but a rep for Keurig Dr Pepper told Nexstar that "no product" was distributed to Georgia.

The recall is currently categorized as Class II by the FDA, meaning that use of the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” The spokesperson for Keurig Dr Pepper did disclose whether any adverse reactions linked to the mix-up had been reported.

“Consumers are encouraged to contact the Keurig Dr Pepper Consumer Care team (866-824-1711) with any questions or concerns,” the spokesperson said.
