A ground stop was issued Monday morning at Denver International Airport, delaying more than 100 flights, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
FAA officials said flights trying to depart from the airport were grounded because of “low ceilings,” an aviation term that refers to the height of the lowest cloud layer.
As of 9:15 a.m., 107 flights had been delayed and three had been canceled, according to flight tracking software FlightAware.
Southwest delayed 43 flights, followed by 32 from United and 16 from SkyWest. Six other airlines delayed between one and five flights.
All three canceled flights were United flights, according to FlightAware.
The ground stop is currently scheduled through 10 a.m. Monday, but it could be extended, according to the FAA.
