Damascus, SANA- Agricultural Museum in Damascus reflects authenticity of Syrian agricultural history, as it includes artistic paintings that represent development stages of local agricultural methods over ancient times, and its techniques.
The museum director, Eng. Nibal Sheikha, said the collections include various types of seeds and fertilizers used in planting the Syrian lands, accompanied with identification cards for each type.
Eng. Nibal added: “The museum halls also include marine and fish specimens, honey-sorting tools, stuffed birds, and models of historical agricultural tools, along with paintings and statues reflecting ancient civilizations”.
Museum assistant director, Eng. Libaa Mehrez, said that the museum has become an important scientific and agricultural resource, serving as an academic encyclopedia for agricultural students and specialized researchers, in addition to serving as a reference for fine arts students through sculptures and paintings.
She also underlined the tourist importance of the museum, noting to the large turnout of foreign tourists on the place as a historical legacy that reflects ancient civilizations.
The museum contents represent a cultural and scientific legacy of Syrian agriculture, stressing that its staff, in cooperation with Agriculture Ministry, are working hard to preserve Syrian agricultural history, she added.
