Father of Emmanuel Haro assists investigators in Moreno Valley search for baby’s remains

The father of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro helped investigators with a search for the baby’s remains in Moreno Valley, authorities announced, but a body was not found.

Jake Haro, 32, worked with investigators and cadaver dogs during the search on the westbound shoulder of the 60 Freeway near Gilman Springs Road, but Emmanuel wasn’t found, said Mara Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Sunday afternoon. The search occurred several days after Jake Haro and the child’s mother were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Rebecca Haro, 41, initially told authorities on Aug. 14 that she was knocked unconscious outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in Yucaipa and awoke to find Emmanuel was gone. Investigators later determined there were inconsistencies in Rebecca Haro’s story and learned the baby wasn’t kidnapped after searching the couple’s home and reviewing surveillance footage.

Jake Haro was also required to attend a child abuser treatment program.

After Jake and Rebecca Haro’s arrests this month, officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said they believe Emmanuel is dead and that investigators are searching for his remains. The couple is being held at Riverside County jail without bail.
