ActressBarbara Eden, 94, is sharing details about the time she accidentally injured her I Dream of Jeannie co-star, Larry Hagman.
During an August 2025 interview with ReMind Magazine, Eden, who played the lovable genie Jeannie, said she unintentionally broke Hagman's tooth while shooting the sitcom, which ran for five seasons until 1970.
“One thing I do remember is Larry breaking a tooth on my knee. It was during regular shooting, and they had me standing on the arms of an upholstered chair and then jumping into his lap," said Eden with a laugh.
Eden spoke about her dynamic with her I Dream of Jeannie castmates, which also included Bill Daily and Hayden Rorke, in a July 2025 interview with Forbes. She said the cast had a "sense of family."
"We all liked each other and it was fun being in the show, doing it," said Eden during the Forbes interview. "I have looked back recently, as a matter of fact - how lucky we were to have Hayden Rorke and Larry and Bill Daily. I mean, they were talented, talented men who could do more than just the comedy - but thank god they could do the comedy. We were surrounded by good people, good talent - and that is rare.”
During a May 2023 interview with That's Classic, Eden discussed her relationship with Hagman, who played Jeannie's eventual love interest, Captain/Major Anthony "Tony" Nelson. She said despite Hagman's personal problems, which included issues with alcohol, he "was a beautiful soul."
"He was his own worst enemy. [But] he was wonderful with me. We had a great working time. He was a very good actor," said Eden of Hagman, who died in 2012 at the age of 81.
Eden said she had difficulty with Hagman's passing in a 2016 OWN interview. She explained that she was initially in denial about his death following his acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis, as the Dallas actor had overcome other health issues like receiving his 1995 liver transplant.
"First of all, I couldn't believe it happened. 'Cause he had overcome so many things and I tended to start feeling like he'd just always be there. You become a family. And then all of the sudden, they're gone. They're just gone. I mourned," said Eden during the 2016 interview.
