ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A very slow-moving cold front was the focal point for some strong thunderstorms that rolled through northern portions of Ontario and Wayne Counties. As a result, there have been numerous reports of tree and power line damage. However, with the exception of a few spotty showers, most of the rain has come to an end – at least for now.
The above-mentioned cold front will continue to move east overnight which will allow for much cooler air to move into Western New York. This will bring below normal temperatures for at least the first half of the week and likely some additional unsettled weather. “Changeable weather” may be a better terminology with frequent shifting from sunshine to passing rain showers. Much of this unstable weather will be due to the cool air crossing the relatively warm waters of Lake Ontario. Each day there will be the chance of a lake effect rain shower with the potential for a waterspout over Lake Ontario.
