ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A cold front brings some unsettled weather today, but no severe weather is expected and a good portion of the day will be dry and partly cloudy for most. Showers start to kick up late this morning and will pass from west to east through the early afternoon, with the majority of shower activity being southeast of Rochester. Some showers will have embedded thunder, but the best chance for any severe thunderstorms will be out towards Syracuse. Temperatures will peak in the upper 70s. After the front passes, there should be some decent clearing for the evening near Rochester alongside dropping dew points making for comfortable conditions, with another chance for showers near the Finger Lakes.
Temperatures tonight get down to the upper 50s, and a cooler weather pattern takes over for the rest of the week as a large upper level trough extends deep to the south. Expect most days to peak in the 70s with a few days only getting up to the upper 60s… A small taste of fall right in time for back to school. We also have more chances for rain the next three days in the form of lake effect showers. These will help the struggling lawns, gardens, and farms out there, but likely not enough to officially lift us out of moderate drought conditions.
