As filming for season five continues in Venice, Italy, local news outlets La Repubblica, Il Messaggero and Corriere della Sera have confirmed that assistant director Diego Borella died after collapsing on set. He was 47 years old.
The cast and crew were filming at Hotel Danieli in Venice when Borella suffered a medical emergency. According to La Repubblica, a local doctor said that Borella likely had a heart attack.
Per reports, Borella was born in Venice and was an established director and writer who worked in a variety of different genres.
