Norris on his $2 million treasure: ‘My favourite car of all’

Lando Norris is best known for manhandling his McLaren at blistering speeds on track, but away from Formula 1, the 25-year-old is a self-confessed car enthusiast with a garage that would make any petrolhead green with envy.

Speaking on Quadcast, the podcast from his Quadrant brand, Norris opened up about his collection – and singled out one car that sits proudly at the top of his list as his most prized possession, emotionally and financially.

Reluctantly admitting that he owns “roughly 16 cars,” Norris was quick to reveal which one holds the most sentimental value.

A $2 Million Slice of History

“I love historic [cars] more than modern cars,” he said. “My favourite car? The one that’s meant the most to me, the car I’m most proud of, is my Lamborghini Miura. I think it's one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

Norris’ stunning deep blue Miura is an original P400, a rarity among rarities – just 762 were ever produced, powered by a 3,929cc V12. He purchased the car from renowned UK-based Italian car dealer Joe Macari, and today it’s valued at an estimated $2 million.

“This was my first proper gift to myself of like, I’m going to spend a little bit of money and buy a very nice car.”

But Norris doesn’t just keep his machines tucked away in storage in Monaco where he resides. Another of his standouts is a Shelby Cobra, which he made sure to put on display in true style.

“There’s maybe a couple that I’m like, I just have to - my Cobra, for instance – I was like, I need to drive a Cobra,” he said. “And I drove it into Silverstone and I was like, yeah, this is the coolest. It is the loudest thing in the world.”

    A Family Affair

For Norris, cars are more than a personal passion – they’re part of a bond he shares with his father, Adam.

“I grew up liking cars. My dad loved them when he was younger,” he explained. “When he was younger, he loved them, and he had a passion for them. Nnd now I almost get to share his love for cars.

“And we get to travel the world, and my dad and my mum come to quite a few of the races, especially my dad. And now I get to live his dream, I think, of when he was younger, because him and his dad used to go to some of the races, and they were like, this is the coolest thing ever.

“So I think that’s why my dad loves it so much, as he’s always loved the cars, but now he gets to experience it kind of through me. So I think that’s pretty cool for him.”

Alongside the Miura and Cobra, Norris’ collection includes a McLaren 765LT, Ferrari F40, Porsche Carrera GT, McLaren P1, and even a modified Land Rover.

For now, though, it’s the Miura that holds pride of place – a reminder that even for a modern F1 star, sometimes the classics are unbeatable.
