Ben Johnson found a new way to deliver a non-answer about his quarterback situation.
This is what the Bears head coach had to say when asked about who Chicago will start at quarterback in the team’s Week 4 game against the New York Jets:
“We’ve got three guys, and we’ll work through the week and see where we’re at.”
Well, that was vague and uninformative. So, unless Johnson is including practice-squad quarterback Miller Moss in the mix, we’re still between Caleb Williams, Tyson Bagent, and Case Keenum as viable QB1 options.
But wait, there’s more:
“The direction has already been made, so we’ll be in good shape for Sunday.”
Oh, come on! That’s even more vague than the other answer! But if Ben feels good, then we should feel good … right?

That said, I think we can pin it down between Bagent and Keenum because it does not sound like Williams will be an active participant in practice this week.

It will be interesting to see which backup quarterback gets mic time at Halas Hall this week. Traditionally, QB1 speaks to the media on Wednesdays when games are played on Sunday. Last week, Keenum did the honors while Williams was injured and Bagent was in protocol. Injured players don’t tend to speak to the media. In any case, we will continue to monitor this situation with great interest for obvious reasons.
