A 38-year-old man who may have thought breaking into music star Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills home would be easy like Sunday morning was arrested and jailed Friday on suspicion of commercial burglary.
Michael John Bond was arrested about 1:55 a.m. Friday and was being held at the Beverly Hills Jail on $50,000 bail, according to sheriff’s online inmate records.
Beverly Hills police told NBC4 they were called just after midnight to the home of the 76-year-old singer, who was home at the time of the break-in.
Police said Bond was recorded on surveillance video as he entered the property and an alarm apparently scared him off. He was nabbed a few blocks from Richie’s house and booked on suspicion of residential burglary, the station reported.
No injuries or theft of property were reported.
