BRITTANY Mahomes’ Kansas City Current has been threatened with a punishment decision due to a weather delay.

The 29-year-old is the co-owner of the professional women’s soccer team.

Last Saturday, the matchup between the Current and the Orlando Pride in the NWSL was ready to be a showcase game for the league.

But Berman allegedly told Current owners in a phone call that the club could be fined for breaking protocols by asking for a heat check after the league went forward with the game.

She then said that the league lost millions of dollars due to missing the scheduled broadcast window.

Pride head coach Seb Hines revealed his disappointment about the eventual conclusion of the delay.

“It was too hot to play, and we would have liked that decision to have been made earlier on, before warm-up, so they can probably prep a little bit better,” Hines said.

“It was a lot of waiting around: ‘We’re going to test the wet bulb,’ ‘Another 15 minutes,’ and there’s a lot of confusion and lack of communication as well on what the next steps were.

“Overall, I was disappointed with the decision-making before the six o’clock kickoff, but once we got there, that was in the best interest of the players and everyone here, and even the fans as well.

“It’s brutal, three o’clock, sun’s beaming. We have to have the best interest for everyone who’s involved here at the stadium.”

The heat ultimately delayed kickoff until 6:28 pm ET when the temperature from the field was below 92.3 degrees, per league policy.

How Patrick and Brittany met

Patrick Mahomes married his high school sweetheart Brittany in an intimate Hawaii ceremony in 2022.

The NFL quarterback met his future wife at Whitehouse High School 10 years before they eventually tied the knot.

The game saw one fan hospitalized due to the extreme heat and 16 others needing medical attention with heat-related issues, per the Kansas City Star.

Meghann Burke, the executive director of the NWSL Players Association, aired her disagreements about how the situation was dealt with by the league in a statement to The Athletic.

“The medical teams did their jobs here, and they did an excellent job and that’s exactly why we negotiated in two CBAs for investments in medical staff and technical staff, in competent people who are qualified to do this job,” Burke said.
