Patrick Schwarzenegger revealed that this Disney classic still makes him emotional.
On Friday, theactor appeared on Hot Ones to talk about his experience filming White Lotus in Thailand, his take on acting classes and their lesson plans and the art of making the perfect banana oat pancakes.
Hot Ones, produced by First We Feast, is a talk show hosted by Sean Evans, who asks his celebrity guests questions while they attempt to complete rounds of chicken wings coated in spicy hot sauce. One of the questions that Evans asked the 31-year-old was if he remembered which was the first or last movie that made him cry.
At first, Schwarzenegger took his time to answer the question, but then he remembered that he had watched The Lion King on his last flight. "Scar...that'll get you," he added.
Disney's animated film, The Lion King, which came out in 1994, follows the adventures of the young lion Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mufasa (James Earl Jones). Simba's wicked uncle, Scar (Jeremy Irons), plots to take over Mufasa's throne by luring him and his son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult (Matthew Broderick) to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon (Nathan Lane) and Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella).
"The first one that made me cry might have been Lion King also. Full circle there," Schwarzenegger said and laughed. "This made me cry a little bit," he joked, referring to the spicy wings.
The son of actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver, he began his career playing minor roles in the early 2000s and has since starred in the television series The Staircase (2022), American Sports Story (2024), and, most recently, the third season of The White Lotus. He played Saxon Ratliff, a wealthy and problematic young man visiting Thailand with his family from North Carolina.
Written by Mike White, The White Lotus is an anthology series, meaning each season features a new set of characters and a new location, but they all center around the fictional "White Lotus" luxury resort chain. The series explores the dysfunctional dynamics of wealthy guests and the resort staff, often with dark undertones and themes.
Schwarzenegger is set to appear in the upcoming film Love of Your Life alongside Margaret Qualley. Beyond acting, he co-founded the wellness brand MOSH with his mother and continues modeling for major brands. On the personal side, he is engaged to model and his longtime girlfriend, Abby Champion.
