Deir Ezzor, SANA-The Internal security forces in Deir Ezzor province thwarted a terrorist attack attempted by two remnants of the ISIS organization on a security checkpoint in Mayadin city.
Colonel Dhirar al-Shamlan, commander of internal security in the province, told a SANA reporter that one of the terrorists attempted to detonate an explosive belt targeting the checkpoint, while the second, an armed suicide bomber, rushed to attack the checkpoint personnel.
Al-Shamlan added that the forces managed to neutralize the suicide bomber before he could detonate, engaged the second attacker, and subdued him, resulting in the neutralization of both terrorists.Colonel al-Shamlan said that one of the internal security members was martyred while confronting the terrorist attack, fulfilling his duty in defending his people and homeland
