Skeletal remains discovered on a Valley Center property last month have been determined to be those of a missing woman, authorities said Thursday.
Early on July 16, investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant at a residence in the 14800 block of Oak Creek Road as part of a search for Nadine Jett, 65.
Homicide detectives, joined by the Special Enforcement Detail, Sheriff’s Search & Rescue, Sheriff’s Crime Lab and personnel from the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation, discovered skeletal remains buried on the 20-acre property.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has officially confirmed that the human remains are Jett’s, the Sheriff’s office said. At this time, no arrests have been made. No cause of death was revealed.
“Detectives with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office continue to pursue all leads and are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding Ms. Jett’s death,” the department said in a news release.
Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), “private entities” and the San Diego District Attorney’s Office also participated in the search, the Sheriff’s office said.
Officials have not revealed how long Jett is believed to have been missing. A neighbor of hers, however, wrote in a July letter to the editor in the Valley Roadrunner, a weekly community newspaper, that Jett disappeared in December 2023.
The neighbor also shared that squatters have been living on Jett’s property and causing disturbances in the neighborhood.
