(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- We’re quiet on this Thursday morning as temperatures sit in the 60s and 70s to kick off the second half of the workweek. Winds are light, and skies are partly cloudy with another seasonable day on the way.
A quick look at the coast shows the impacts of Hurricane Erin being felt in the form of high wave heights reaching 15 feet and a strong storm surge of up to 6 feet. Winds are significant as well, with gusts reaching up to 30 miles per hour.
Hurricane Erin will quickly exit to the north and east as a Category 2 storm and provide some relief for the Outer Banks and lead to improving conditions throughout the day.
Back in the Queen City, we make a run for the upper 80s under partly cloudy skies and relatively light winds. Look for winds to settle between 3 and 8 miles per hour out of the north-northeast.
Thursday afternoon and evening will hold on to a low-end rain and storm chance from our mountains into uptown with more of a lingering impact along I-40 heading into our overnight hours.
Lows dip into the 70s overnight as showers stick around and potentially impact your Friday morning commute. We’ll finish off the workweek with low 80s and mostly cloudy skies as we hold on to rain chances heading into the weekend.
Saturday will be in the mid-80s with pop-up showers lingering, and conditions will dry out heading into Sunday. We’ll dry out and settle into the low and mid-80s through the first half of next week.
