William Shatner may have made a name for himself over six decades ago, but at 94 years old, the Star Trek legend proved that he’s still got it in a rare sighting in Los Angeles.
Shatner looked casually cool in a blue and white striped button-down shirt that he paired with jeans and simple tennis shoes in photos published by the Daily Mail on Wednesday, August 20. The outlet reported that the T.J. Hooker star made a stop at Aroma Coffee & Tea in Tujunga Village with a friend before heading out to do some shopping.
Earlier this summer, Shatner revealed he had been dealing with a longtime health issue called tinnitus. The condition — which the Mayo Clinic defines as ringing or other noises in one or both ears — was caused by a special effects explosion that left him with constant ringing.
“Over the years, I’ve had many ups and downs with my tinnitus,” the Miss Congeniality actor said in a video showcasing his partnership with Tinnitus Quest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness, on June 24. “It’s a diverse condition that comes in different degrees of severity. About 1 to 2 percent of the population suffer from a chronic, debilitating form of tinnitus. There are no effective treatments — and that’s why we need more research.”

He continued, “[Tinnitus Quest is] run by tinnitus patients together with some of the top researchers in the field. The more money we can raise for Tinnitus Quest, the quicker we can find a solution to help the millions of people suffering. Thank you so much for watching, and I hope you will consider donating.”
That’s not the only new adventure Shatner has embarked on this summer. Earlier today, he announced that he was co-authoring a new book with writer and producer Josh Brandon (Midnight, Texas; Fear the Walking Dead). However, this won’t be a book strictly from the former Rescue 9-1-1 host’s perspective. Instead, he’s asking fans to submit stories about how his work and characters have affected their lives.
“My greatest joy has been the connection I’ve shared with fans over the years,” Shatner told People. “William Shatner… And You is a celebration of them: their stories, their passion and the bond we’ve built together.”
The book will be released in late 2026, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. Shatner has remained a Parade reader favorite, with coverage of his career milestones and ongoing projects consistently sparking interest among fans.
