Lucas Blietz from Thousand Oaks, California has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at UC-Santa Cruz beginning in the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Lucas joins twin brother Dylan Blietz with his commitment to UCSC for this fall.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my swimming and academic career at the University of California, Santa Cruz! I’m so grateful to my family and friends, especially my parents, for their support over the years. Thank you to all of my coaches and teammates from my twelve seasons with Class Aquatics, especially to Coach Steve for his guidance. I’d also like to thank Coach Crawford and Coach Garlich for giving me this opportunity. Go Slugs!”
Lucas Blietz swims for Class Aquatics and most recently competed at Futures in Ocala, Florida. There he swam on the team’s relays and in numerous time trials. Just a week earlier, he competed at Sectionals in La Jolla. There he posted a best time 54.14 in the 100 free to finish 20th and was slightly faster in prelims with a 53.98. He also finaled in the 200 free finishing 24th in a 2:01.02.
He just finished his senior year at Westlake High School. In May, he swam at the California Division I State Championships. He finished 22nd in the 200 free (1:43.86) and 26th in the 100 free (47.47). He also was on Westlake’s 200 free and 400 free relays.
Blietz’s Best SCY Times Are:
50 free: 21.99 100 free: 47.16 200 free: 1:42.38Blietz will travel north to UCSC. The men’s team captured the 2025 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships title this past season with 1605.5 points, finishing about 200 points ahead of 2nd place Biola.
Based on his best times, Blietz has the potential to make an immediate impact upon his arrival. Blietz’s best time in the 100 free would have made the ‘C’ final while his 200 free would have made the ‘B’ final. Massimo Reyna led the team this past season in the 200 free with a 1:39.51.
Bleitz will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2029 along with twin brother Dylan Bleitz as well as Owen Blanford.
