Tamar Braxton just revealed that she almost died earlier this week.
On her Instagram Story on Tuesday, August 18, the singer opened up about her near-death experience that occurred only two days prior.
“I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can’t even really talk anymore I’m so weak,” she wrote. “I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury.”
“As the days go by the worse it is,” she continued. “I fractured my nose, lost some teeth and mobility. ??the way I look at life now is totally different. As my health is on the mend my mental journey begins… pray for me for real ????I don’t even know what happened to me ??.”
The nature of the accident is currently unknown.
Hours before she told her followers about the incident, Braxton posted a quote to her Instagram Story where she expressed gratitude for being alive.
“Thank you God for waking me up today,” she said.
Braxton previously survived a suicide attempt in July 2020. At the time, Braxton was home with her son Logan and her then-boyfriend, financial consultant David Adefeso, who found her unresponsive. She was then rushed to the hospital.
"That time of my life was so dark and so heavy," she told People in 2021. "I didn't see how I was going to come out on the other side. I didn't even know that there was another side. But I chose to change my life."
"Most people think, 'Oh, she went to a hotel, probably took a bunch of drugs, was on a binge.' It didn't happen like that. It was just everyday life, trying to figure out how to get through the day and then..." Braxton continued.
Braxton was filming her WE tv docuseries Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life! at the time, and said constantly being in front of a camera negatively impacted her mental health.
Braxton first rose to fame as a founding member of The Braxtons, an R&B singing group formed with her sisters, including superstar Toni Braxton. She later starred in her family's reality series Braxton Family Values from 2011-2020 and won season 2 of Celebrity Big Brother in 2019.
