Authorities say a mother has been detained after she allegedly attacked her own child in Sacramento County.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to Angeline Avenue, off of Fair Oaks Boulevard, in the Carmichael area around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Dispatchers had gotten a report that a mother allegedly tried to stab her 10-year-old child while they were in the shower. The alleged attack possibly involved a machete, deputies say.
Deputies say the child's father was able to hold the mother down until first responders arrived at the scene.
Both the father and child suffered stab wounds, the sheriff's office says, and were taken to the hospital. Their injuries are said to be not life-threatening.
Deputies have detained the mother. Her name has not been released at this time.
