Maddie Lauria from Suwanee, Georgia has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Iona beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
I am so beyond blessed to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic career as a D1 athlete at Iona University! Lauria swims for SwimAtlanta out of Lawrenceville, Georgia. She swam to numerous season best times in March at the Georgia Best of the South meet. She swam a season best 1:00.29 100 fly, 5:15.60 500 free, and a 2:12.52 200 fly.
She just finished her senior year at Lambert High School. She was the team’s highest individual scorer at the Georgia 6A State Championship in March. She placed 11th in the 500 free and 13th in the 100 fly. She also swam on the team’s 200 medley and 400 free relays.
Lauria’s Best SCY Times:
100 fly: 59.20 200 fly: 2:08.36 200 free: 1:57.47 500 free: 5:10.07The Iona women finished 6th out of 12 teams at the 2025 MAAC Championships with 295 points. They were not far behind 5th place Mount St Mary’s that had 334 points.
Based on her best times, Lauria has the potential to make an immediate impact. Her best time in the 200 fly would have made the ‘B’ final. Iona’s Ashley Benkert was the team’s lone finalist in the event as she finished 10th in a 2:06.38. Benkert just finished her senior season so Lauria’s arrival comes at the right time.
Lauria will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2029 along with Ava Loftus, Marissa Hengesbach, Maddie Hopkins, Lauren Woody, Caitlin Hopkins, Francesa Fields, Paige Fiorino, Sydney Cronin, and Victoria Mordaunt.
