How Many Nationally Televised Games Did the Chicago Bulls Land? (Hint: Yikes!)

If you’re dying to watch the Chicago Bulls this season … you’re not alone.

The NBA officially released its full 2025-26 schedule on Thursday night, giving fans plenty of big games to circle on their calendars. Fans also got their first look at which marquee matchups will be broadcast by the league’s newest partners.

NBC has rejoined the fold and is set to become the NBA’s most important outlet. They will broadcast a handful of games on Peacock, the organization’s streaming app. Amazon Prime has also become a key backer and will command the league’s Play-In Tournament. Meanwhile, ESPN and NBA TV will remain a regular way for audiences across the country to watch some key battles.

All things considered, there is no better indication of who the “popular kids” are in the NBA than tracking how many times a certain team appears on these platforms. The cream of the crop typically ends up with well over 30 of their 82 games played in front of a national audience. For instance, the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Oklahoma City Thunder have all been scheduled 34 nationally broadcast games, per CBS Sports.

So how did the Chicago Bulls fare alongside those fellow big market teams and the reigning champion, you ask? I bet you can guess.

Chicago Bulls Tied for Second-Fewest Games on National TV

As we head into the 2025-26 season, only five teams have fewer games in front of a national crowd than the Chicago Bulls. The Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, and New Orleans Pelicans are all tied for a league-low with only TWO games across ESPN, NBC/Peacock, Amazon, or NBA TV.

Sadly, the Bulls are not far behind. They are tied with the Charlotte Hornets as having a mere three nationally broadcast games. This leaves them two spots behind the next closest team, the Miami Heat.

As if swimming in the same pond as a handful of rebuilding and small-market teams wasn’t bad enough, the Bulls will not play a single one of these nationally broadcast games at the United Center. Likewise, they will not appear at all on NBC during its first season back, which sure stands out when we consider how synonymous the team became with the network back in the ’90s.

Indeed, this serves as another painful reminder of how far the mighty have fallen. A staple franchise with a storied history in a Top 3 market should rarely be this out of the loop. Sure, we can all understand it if they were in a deep rebuild, but that’s what makes this feel even worse!

The Bulls have never flat-out said that they are rebuilding. The organization has consistently preached that it wants to remain competitive and push for the postseason. While they have embraced a “youth movement” of sorts, this has still come with no indication that they plan to tank games and play for lottery balls (unlike most other teams with a similar number of games). Instead, they continue to suggest that they are putting their best foot forward. And this is how the NBA repays them!

This also pretty clearly speaks to the franchise’s long-standing lack of star power. You can be a bad team, but as long as you have a marketable young star on the roster, you’re going to end up with more than three games. Not only does the Bulls’ roster currently lack that, but it’s hard to see a path where that changes any time soon. Help me, Matas Buzelis, you’re my only hope!
