Florida State didn’t release any reason for that decision at the time of that announcement, but more details are starting to emerge. According to a report from Brandon Marcello, Hussey was dismissed from the team after getting into a physical altercation with a position coach.
“My sourcing down in Tallahassee tells me that Conrad Hussey had a physical altercation with a position coach at Florida State,” Marcello said on the College Football Insiders podcast. “As one source told me, it wasn’t a good look for Conrad Hussey and it also wasn’t a good look for the position coach.”

“And there’s some guys who need to, quite frankly, step their ass up,” White said. “It’s unacceptable. We all need to make sure that we’re all on the same page and we understand what’s asked of us and what the expectations are. Either guys do it or they don’t. And it’s not right if you don’t.”
Hussey entered Florida State with a lot of potential, as he was a 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings in 2023. He was the No. 193 prospect in the class.
He showed a lot of promise in his freshman campaign, when he had 22 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception. However, he fell out of the coaching staff’s favor last season, and had been dealing with a hand injury during this summer.
Alabama is a 13.5-point favorite over FSU in the season opener, according to the latest college football betting lines.
