Texas enters this season as the No. 1 team in both the coaches and AP poll, with everybody thinking this could be the year the team breaks through and makes it to the national title.
During a segment on his show, Colin Cowherd said he loves what Texas is doing, but doesn’t expect the Longhorns to become the new version of Alabama.
“Oh boy,” Cowherd said on his show. “Texas my entire life, has been USC in cowboy hats. Good looking, a lot of style, a lot of vibe and energy. Coach always makes a lot of money. Cool stadium, cool city. Eh, where are all the [national championships]? I love Texas football. They pass the eye test, but they aren’t Alabama. They aren’t gritty. Alabama intimidated you, Georgia intimidated you. The prom queen doesn’t scare you.”

In his first season, the Longhorns went 5-7, and followed that with an 8-5 year. The last two years, the Longhorns have been as good as anybody in the country, as they have made the College Football Playoffs both years, losing in the semifinals both times.
When the Longhorns have lost the last two seasons, a big reason why was because of the battle in the trenches. Both times Texas lost to Georgia last season, the Longhorns were dominated at the line of scrimmage.
Despite what Cowherd said, the Longhorns are still looked at by most of college football as the team to beat heading into this season. The team has a golden opportunity to show it is the bully as it travels to Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 1.
