Freebie of the Week: See these hit movies at local parks

You’ve still got time to enjoy a free outdoor movie before the summer’s over!  Movies start around 8 p.m., and typically pre-show entertainment. Bring a picnic, blankets and low-back chairs. Food trucks may be available.

Here are five playing over the next week:

    Orange: “Elemental” (PG, 2023) screens Friday, Aug. 15 at Irvine Regional Park. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the movie will be shown starting at dusk. 1 Irvine Park Road, Orange. More information: ocparks.com

    Playa del Rey: Watch “Venom: The Last Dance” (PG-13, 2024) on Friday, Aug. 15 on the beach at Dockweiler Youth Center, 12505 Vista Del Mar. The screening is part of Beach Movie Nights, which continue through Aug. 29. The movie begins at 8 p.m. Parking is $3. More information: beaches.lacounty.gov/dockweiler-youth-center

    South El Monte: Watch “Bee Movie” (PG, 2007) on Friday, Aug. 15 at the Whittier Narrows Nature Center, 1000 Durfee Ave., South El Monte.  The fun begins at 6 p.m.  Learn more: instagram.com/whittiernarrowsnaturecenter/#

    Long Beach: “Captain America: Brave New World” (PG-13, 2025) plays Monday, Aug. 18 at Ramona Park, 3301 E. 65th St.; Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave.; and Aug. 22 at Signal Hill Park, 2175 Cherry Ave. Activities, including movie-themed crafts and a raffle giveaway, begin at 6 p.m.; movie at dusk..
