The fourth and final day of the 2025 US Summer Championships sees some familiar names upon the scratch list as Claire Weinstein has dropped both the 200 free and 800 free. Weinstein, who won the bronze medal in the 200 at the 2025 Singapore Worlds, has not competed in an individual event this week, only swimming the opening leg of the Women’s 4×100 free relay for her team, the Sandpipers of Nevada. Her fellow Singapore Worlds and Sandpipers teammate, Bella Sims, will take over the top seed in the 200 free, while Australia’s Tiana Kritzinger will move into lane 4 in the 800 free.
Fellow top eight seed, Jack Dahlgren has dropped out the 200 free as well. Dahlgren was seeded 5th at 1:46.58, but likely is sitting out the first event of the day to focus on the 200 fly, where he and the top seed, Trenton Julian will be chasing the 1:53.70 that currently sits in 2nd place on the Pan-Pacs roster in the event. Dahlgren was one of five swimmers seeded under 1:47, with the group being led by Kieran Smith at 1:45.39. Smith, provisionally made the Singapore roster, but due to roster constraints did not make the trip to Worlds.
The women’s and men’s 100 breast events, either saw no scratches, as is the case of the women’s race, or just two, on the men’s side, with Joe Polyak the 7th seed, the highest to withdraw.
Both 200 fly event saw enough scratches to condense to just prelims heats. The aforementioned Trenton Julian leads the men’s field while Alex Shackell, a 2024 Olympian in this event leads the women’s field and will look to not only hold off Bella Grant and Rachel Klinker but also fight for a spot on the Pan-Pacs roster in this event.
There have been a few additions to the heat sheets this morning as Joshua Chen has jumped into the 100 breast as the 8th fastest seed and David Johnston, who scratched the 800 free on night one has added the 1500 free to his program. With a reshuffling of the Pan-Pacs roster, by the addition of Van Mathias and potentially others, Johnston will be looking to improve his time in this event in order to better his standing among priority two swimmers and remain on the team.
