WWE SUPERSTAR and world-famous actor John Cena has opened up about getting a hair transplant last November following hair loss jibes from fans.
The 48-year-old said the procedure changed his life and that he wished he had got it done sooner.
In conversation with People, the pro-wrestler discussed the early reaction from crowds that pushed him to get the transplant done.
He said: “As I was trying to hide my hair loss, the audience was bringing it to light,”
“I saw their signs that said ‘The bald John Cena.’
“They pushed me into going to see what my options were.”
The Massachusetts native has become one of wrestling‘s biggest legends since debuting with the WWE in 2000.
His victory over Cody Rhodes in April secured him a record 17th world championship title.
But despite his success, he is not immune to the mockery of a crowd.
He revealed that last November he had got a hair transplant to treat one such source of self-consciousness.
“I now have a routine: red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, conditioner — and I also got a hair transplant last November.
“I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago.
“I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness.”
Cena is currently in his last stint with the WWE after announcing last year that 2025 would be his last year in the ring.

He is aware of the fan ridicule he might bring on by opening up about his experience with getting a hair transplant, but he hopes to battle through and negate the stigma surrounding the procedure.
“If somebody’s going to sweat me for that, I don’t think there’s any shame in that.
“It completely changed the course of my life.”
Outside of the ring, Cena has become an actor at the top of the entertainment industry.
He has had significant roles in cinematic franchises including DC, Transformers and the Fast and Furious series.
He is soon set to return in season two of his superhero show Peacemaker, releasing later this month.
He says his career played a part in his decision to get the procedure done, to allow him to pursue his passion.
“A different hairstyle can identify a part that can get me more work, do the thing I love to do.”
