The Weld County Department of Public Works continues to seek community feedback on how to reduce fatalities and severe injuries on the roads.
Community input will help a team develop the Weld County Safety Action Plan for the county’s transportation system. In addition to stakeholder and public feedback, the plan will outline the “contributing factors” in fatal and serious injury traffic collisions, propose strategies and policies and provide guidance for implementation, according to the county’s website.
Two community open houses will provide community members with an overview of the initial draft plan and a chance to share their reflections next week. Public Works will accept public input from Aug. 12-28.
The first event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 in the Richard E. Hart Training Room at Firestone Police & Municipal Courts Building, 9900 Park Ave.
The next community open house will go from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 in the Events Room at the Weld County Administration Building, 1150 O St., Greeley.
Both open house presentations will begin at 5:45 p.m.
The county also continues to host pop-up events to share the plan with residents. Anyone unable to attend the open houses can find information about the Safety Action Plan, including data and engagement maps, on the county’s website.
“We’ve seen tremendous feedback through our project website and pop-up events, and we’re looking forward to speaking with residents directly at our open houses,” Public Works Director Curtis Hall said in a county news release. “Aside from the chance to provide feedback, these events will let people see plans up close, the issues facing Weld County’s roads and provide insight on possible solutions. We hope everyone can attend.”
