We've known for some time now that Lady Gaga will appear in the second season of Wednesday, playing the character of Rosaline Rotwood, a "legendary Nevermore teacher" who crosses paths with Jenna Ortega's character.
Now, it has been reported by Variety that Gaga will also be releasing a song for the series, which will be released next month to coincide the actor/singer's appearance in the second half of the season.
The video for the song, titled Dead Dance, will reportedly also be released at the same time, with Burton and Gaga having been spotted on the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, south of Mexico City. The song will also play during one of the episodes.
Sources have told the publication that the song was recorded with the same team that produced Gaga's new album, Mayhem, primarily cowriters and coproducers Andrew Watt and Cirkut.
Tim Burton, who both executive produces the series and directs episodes, said of Gaga while speaking with Variety at the Wednesday season 2 premiere: "She’s such an artist and so for me, working with an artist is inspirational. But I felt that way about Joanna and Steve, who I’ve worked with before.
"These people come on this set, you see the whole crew kind of light up. It’s a beautiful thing to witness."
Other stars joining the cast of Wednesday for season 2 include Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley and Billie Piper, while others reprising their roles from season 1 include Catherine Zeta-Jones and Emma Myers.
Speaking with Radio Times magazine, Piper recently revealed that she was "fanatical" about Burton's films in her youth, saying: "My kids and I love The Nightmare Before Christmas and Frankenweenie.
"And growing up, I was a huge fan of Big Fish. I watched Beetlejuice so many times as a kid that I actually feel like it inspired the interiors in my house and the clothes I wear."
